With Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger still sidelined, the New York Yankees upgraded up their outfield by acquiring Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants on Monday. In return, the Yankees dealt Henry Lalane and Kaeden Kent, the team’s No. 5 and No. 13 ranked prospects, respectively.
Heliot Ramos
Ramos, a five-year major league veteran, is in the midst of another above-average offensive season. Through 74 games, the 26-year-old is hitting .262/.304/.424 with a 104 OPS+. While those numbers certainly don’t jump off the page, Ramos offers multiple years of team control, as his current contract runs through 2030.
More importantly, Ramos gives the Yankees a bat that dominates left-handed pitchers. Against southpaws this season, Ramos is hitting .292 with an .835 OPS. With Judge and Bellinger out, Ramos is the only right-handed hitting outfielder on the roster, meaning he’ll likely platoon with Spencer Jones for the time being.
Henry Lalane
Lalane, a six-foot-seven lefty, was the Yankees’ fifth-ranked prospect in their farm system. He has a 60-grade fastball that averages 94 mph and peaks at 98 mph, as well as a 50-grade changeup and 60-grade slider.
This season, Lalane has spent time at both Low-A Tampa and High-A Hudson Valley. In 16 total games, the 22-year-old has posted a 2.77 ERA with 98 strikeouts in 78 innings. He’s also posted an opponent batting average of .188, with his WHIP sitting at an even 1.00.
Lalane is now the No. 9 prospect in the Giants system and the top left-hander in the team’s system behind No. 8 prospect Jacob Bresnahan. He will begin his time with the Giants at High-A Eugene.
Kaeden Kent
Like Lalane, Kent is still in Single-A. However, his success so far has been immediate. In 76 games this season, Kent is hitting .302 with 28 extra-base hits, 43 RBI, and 20 stolen bases. He projects as a middle infielder, with the versatility to play both short and second. He will join Lalane at High-A Eugene as the Giants’ No. 23 prospect.
Kent is the son of Hall of Famer Jeff Kent, who spent six seasons with the Giants. During his time in the Bay Area, the 17-year veteran won one MVP, three Silver Slugger awards, and made the National League All-Star team three times.
For his career, Kent hit 377 home runs, collected 2,461 hits, drove in 1,518 runs, and collected 55.4 WAR. He was named to the 2026 Hall of Fame class with Andruw Jones and Carlos Beltran.
