According to Brian Snitker, Acuña will be placed on the 10-day IL before any major decisions happen.

Ronald Acuña’s injury history can be described as lengthy but only major knee injuries, and other one can be added to the list. His nagging fitness injuries from 2019-2020 hurt him, but 2018 and 2021 are his lengthy injuries. In 2018, Acuña was taking storm as a rookie, until he went down with a sprained ACL. He missed about a month of action and returned at his pace. In 2021, that was not the case. In a game against the Miami Marlins, Acuña went for a jumping catch, but cane down hard. He couldn’t get up, and it resulted in a torn ACL. He was out for the rest of the season, but the Braves still went on to win the World Series.

Next Steps:

The Braves must evaluate the 2023 NL MVP on Monday, as they get back tonight from Pittsburgh. The star right fielder hasn’t had the same numbers of his 2023 campaign, but is still the star of the show for the Braves. As for the injury, Acuña spoke to the press after the game, saying he didn’t hear a pop and the pain is decreasing. The same feeling of the 2018 injury, the Venezuelan superstar could be looking to miss at least a month according to the information the team has so far. The Braves will be very cautious and take it a slow as they need. They have had many of their great players go down this season. With star pitcher Spencer Strider out for the season, Austin Riley and Sean Murphy still awaiting a return, the Braves look to keep the boat afloat.
