The Texas Rangers and future Hall of Fame manager Bruce Bochy have mutually agreed to end his tenure in the Rangers’ dugout. It’s the end of a brief, yet meaningful, era in the Lone Star state. This development was first reported Monday evening by Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News. It’s possible that Bochy won’t leave the organization entirely, however. He currently has an offer on the table to remain with the Rangers in an advisory role. Time will tell if he decides to accept said offer.

Statement from Chris Young

“Bruce Bochy is one of the greatest managers in baseball history and he will forever hold a place in the hearts of Ranger fans. He brought home the first World Series title in franchise history in 2023,” said Rangers President of Baseball Operations Chris Young. “Boch brought class and respect to our club in his return to the dugout. We will always take pride in being part of his Hall of Fame career. We are grateful for everything he has given to the organization over the past few seasons and hopeful he can continue to impact the Rangers for many years to come.”

Bochy’s Impact on the Rangers

In his first year as the Rangers’ manager, Bochy guided them to the 2023 World Series championship. It was their first title in franchise history. He was at the helm for four of the eight postseason series victories in franchise history. His 13 postseason wins rank second in club history only to Ron Washington, who has 18.

Hired as the 20th full-time manager in Rangers history on October 21, 2022, Bochy held court at a Globe Life Field press conference on October 24, 2022. He was the first to take the managerial post after having previously won a World Series title as manager. Bochy was under a three-year contract covering the 2023-25 seasons.
