Tuesday’s slate of games included several World Baseball Classic exhibition games between big-league clubs and international teams before the tournament officially starts on Thursday, March 5. There were more than a few Baltimore Orioles who showed off in these early spring exhibitions. The Orioles saw seven players across five international teams preparing for the tournament while also squaring off against Team Netherlands themselves. Here is a summary of the best Oriole performances across the six matchups that saw Baltimore players take the field Tuesday.
Gunnar Henderson, Team USA
Former American League Rookie of the Year Gunnar Henderson is joining Team USA in their hopes of winning the 2026 World Baseball Classic after falling in the championship to Team Japan in the last iteration of the tournament. On Tuesday, Team USA took on the San Francisco Giants in their last tune-up before the competition starts. Henderson entered the game off the bench in the bottom of the fifth inning for Bobby Witt Jr. The Orioles’ star shortstop ended the day with three at-bats, a hit, a walk drawn, two RBIs, and two runs scored as well. His runs batted in came off a scalded line drive double into center field off of lefty Greg Farone.
Pete Alonso and Jeremiah Jackson, Baltimore Orioles
While Pete Alonso is not on Team USA’s roster this time around after appearing for the team in 2023, that didn’t save any international arms from getting hit around the yard by Alonso. In the Orioles’ matchup against Team Netherlands at Ed Smith Stadium, the new Orioles first baseman put on a show despite the 8-5 loss for Baltimore. Alonso finished his day with hits in both of his at-bats while also garnering two runs batted in on a first-inning home run against Cincinnati Reds prospect Ryjeteri Merite.
Alonso wasn’t the only Oriole to leave the yard, however, as Jeremiah Jackson also belted a solo home run in the fifth inning of the contest. The long ball came off of Wendell Floranus, who was once a member of the Orioles organization between 2012 and 2015. Jackson is fighting for a spot in the starting lineup at second base or third base with the injuries to Jackson Holliday and Jordan Westburg. His first round-tripper of the spring will certainly bolster his case come Opening Day.

The Orioles tenth-ranked prospect Enrique Bradfield Jr. will be wearing the jersey of Team Panama, the home country of both of Bradfield Jr.’s parents. Bradfield said in an interview that “To be able to represent the country that they were born in, that my family has strong ties to, is a great accomplishment, and I think it’s going to be a fun opportunity for me to get out there early and just play a lot of baseball. It’s what I’m looking for in 2026.”
Team Panama faced off against the New York Yankees in a game that ended in favor of the Yankees 11-1. However, despite the lopsided score, Bradfield Jr. impressed, playing the entire game while knocking a hit in the last inning and also swiping both second and third base, showing off the speed he has become known for both on the base paths and in center field. The young outfielder scored Panama’s lone run of the game later that inning off of a Rubén Tejada RBI groundout.
Ryan Long, Team Great Britain
Team Great Britain was victorious Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers with a score of 7-3 with help from Orioles minor leaguer Ryan Long. Long spent the majority of 2025 with Double-A Chesapeake Baysox where he posted a 4.04 ERA over 91 1/3 innings. Long was drafted by the Orioles in the 17th round in 2021 and has been in the organization ever since. In Great Britain’s defeat of the Brewers, Long went an inning, allowing no base runners and striking out the 12th-ranked prospect in Milwaukee’s system in Luis Lara. Long also forced Jesús Made, Brewers top prospect and third overall prospect in all of baseball according to MLB.com, to ground out.
