After his team took Game One of the NLCS, William Contreras stepped up for the Milwaukee Brewers in Monday’s 7–4 triumph over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game Two of the NLCS at American Family Field. The All-Star catcher went 3-for-4 with three RBI, including a solo home run in the fifth inning. That marked his fifth career playoff homer and tied the franchise record. His performance helped the Brewers take a 2–0 lead over the Dodgers heading into Games Three and Four of the series at Dodger Stadium.
“Keep going. Keep going,” Contreras said of his approach when facing the Dodgers on the road. “The goal is not to think about where we’re at. Regardless of where we’re going, who we’re playing against, the goal is to focus on doing our jobs and executing our jobs. That’s the task at hand. Just focusing on what’s next.”
William Contreras Steps Up
In the NLDS, Contreras began to pick up steam against the San Diego Padres. He recorded four hits with two home runs with one coming in game one and the other in game three when he went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Still, he did go 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in the Brewers game one win over the Dodgers.
However, William Contreras bounced back at the right time. After Brice Turang hit a double in the top of the first, Contreras came through with an RBI single to score their team’s first run. Following Christian Yelich’s two-run single in the third and the Dodgers scoring two in the fifth, the catcher tied the game at four with a 436 foot solo shot. An inning later, he plated an RBI single to put the Brewers in front. His performance paid dividends as Turang and Jake Bauers scored two more runs to seal the three-run victory.
“I’m going to keep on doing my job offensively and defensively,” Contreras added. “I’m always going to go out there and be that best version of myself as I possibly can. Like I always say, baseball is a game of highs and lows and it’s going to bring more lows than it brings highs. I think a lot of people don’t understand.”
“Yesterday for me wasn’t a bad game because I had the game I had behind the plate. Whatever I’m able to contribute behind the plate as well, what mattered most in yesterday’s was we were able to come out with a win.”
Remaining Composed
Across his four seasons with the Brewers, William Contreras has dealt with his fair share of inconsistencies in the postseason. In 2025, he totaled six hits, three RBI and two home runs in the Brewers NLDS series win over the Chicago Cubs. At the same time, he went 2-for-14 and struck out four times against the Dodgers in an eventual NLCS series sweep. This time around he was reliable in game two and attributed it to the amount of faith that the team has in him.

“I think it’s the confidence that Milwaukee installed in me from day one when they acquired me,” he concluded. “I think going out there and letting me play the game that I do and letting me play the way that I do. That’s the only thing I really have to say is I am very appreciative of the organization for what they’ve been able to do. I think I’ve been able to have the best years of my career.”
