Minor Matters: Rosters of Guardians’ Farm Teams

The Cleveland Guardians’ plentiful farm system is gearing up for the 2023 minor-league season. One team has already opened the season. Three others will throw out the first pitch this week.

The Columbus Clippers opened on the road this past weekend, dropping a three-game series including a pair of-one-run contests to the Iowa Cubs. Lefty Konnor Pilkington was absolutely torched in the first game on Friday night, giving up 10 runs on 11 hits over 3 1/3 innings. Bo Naylor homered for Columbus. Tyler Freeman, David Fry and Naylor all had two hits for the Clippers.

Saturday night in a 4-3 loss in 10 innings, Freeman, Micah Pries and Zack Collins all had two hits.

Freeman, Collins, Naylor and Richie Palacios all went deep Sunday, but the pitching went haywire again in a wild 12-11 loss. Staked to a 5-0 lead, Adam Scott gave up six runs in 1 2/3 innings. Only reliever Michael Kelly looked good, working two scoreless innings.

The Clippers open a six-game homestand with the Charlotte Knights on Tuesday night.

Here are the rosters of the Guardians’ four full-season farm clubs. Several players are on the injured list, designated by an asterisk (*).

The RubberDucks open the season at home with a three-game set against the Erie Seawolves on Thursday night. This roster is nearly complete. Though some players may be moved down from Columbus or up from Lake County. These rosters are in a constant state of flux as players are sometimes moved up or down in order to get special instruction from a different coach or fill in for injuries.
