Kenley Jansen Joins 400 Save Club

Boston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen became the seventh member of the 400 save club with his save in the Red Sox’ win over his former club, the Atlanta Braves. Jansen, the long-time closer for the Los Angeles Dodgers, worked the ninth inning allowing a double to Eddie Rosario and struck out Travis d’Arnaud to seal the 5–2 victory. Jansen, 35, was born in Curacao. The Dodgers signed him as a catcher as an undrafted free agent in 2004.

They switched him to a reliever, and he made his Major League debut in 2010. He collected 350 saves over his 12 years for the Boys in Blue. Jansen had an additional 41 saves for the Braves in 2022. He signed with Boston in the offseason on a two-year deal. In his first year with the Red Sox, he is 9/10 with a 0.77 ERA. In his career, Jensen has 400 saves, and an ERA of 2.44. Most of his success is attributed to his cutter, and scouts have noticed more break on it this season.
