The Baltimore Orioles have acquired Miami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers in exchange for Kyle Stowers and Connor Norby. The number one farm system in the majors looks to take advantage of the market and position. Rogers, a lefty starter with a 92 MPH fastball, moves on from his only MLB team—the Marlins selected him in the 13th pick in the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft. Rogers is only 26 years old and is arbitration-eligible in 2025. The lefty was an All-Star in 2021 and finished second in Rookie of the Year voting in 2021, falling behind Cincinnati Reds second baseman Jonathan India. The Marlins continue their sell mode, as their second-worst record in the National League leaves them in no place to make a playoff push. The Fish traded Jazz Chisholm Jr. to the New York Yankees three days ago.

Baltimore Orioles Spotlight
The Orioles look to win the AL East after their strong summer push. Although the New York Yankees held a suitable AL East lead, the O’s have climbed back up. Currently, they sit a half-game up on the Yankees. The Orioles rotation of Corbin Burnes and Grayson Rodriguez lead the Birds, and Cole Irvin rounds out the top three. Cole Irvin and Trevor Rogers will now be two lefty starters, which can help for the postseason. Although Irvin has struggled, the addition of Rogers could help the Orioles as a successful lefty for years. With the number one farm in the majors, the Orioles look to cash in using their strong prospects.
Miami Marlins Spotlight
The Marlins are looking to be major sellers this deadline, and Rogers may not be their last deal. Miami acquires two great prospects in Kyle Stowers and Connor Norby. Stowers, an outfielder selected in the second round in 2019, is hitting .306 in 39 at-bats for Baltimore this season. The Marlins will give him more plate appearances as they have nothing to play for this season. Norby, a 24-year-old second baseman was selected in the second round in 2021. Norby is hitting .188 in 32 at-bats. He made his debut this season in June, while Stowers debuted in 2022. Miami adds two solid Orioles prospects with high upside for the future.
