Dodgers 7, Mets 0

The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back to their winning ways, shutting out the New York Mets and finding the long ball in a 7–0 victory in Game Three of the NLCS on Wednesday. Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler found his better stuff, improving after his bad start against the San Diego Padres in the NLDS. Luis Severino took the bump for the Mets. He only allowed two runs but zero earned after an error in the second inning. The Dodgers can take a 3–1 series lead on Friday with a win, while the Mets look to bounce back to tie the series at two games a piece.

Dodgers – Mets Game Summary

Both teams traded zeros in the first, but the Dodgers quickly turned that narrative around in the second inning. They added two runs, one from Will Smith on an infield single to score Max Muncy, and a sacrifice fly by Tommy Edman to score a second. In the sixth inning, (Kike) Enrique Hernandez hit a two run home run to continue his postseason ways, adding to the Dodgers’ lead. The eighth became the “Show-hei.” Shohei Ohtani struck gold, blasting a three run home run that went halfway up the top deck in right field. In the ninth, Muncy hit a solo home run to ice the game for the Dodgers. The Mets got blanked, and only tallied four hits.

What Went Right for the Dodgers

Back to the Old Pitching Ways

The Dodgers’ consecutive inning scoreless streak ended in Game Two with a Francisco Lindor lead off home run. Well, they came back to life in Game Three. Walker Buehler dealt, going four innings, allowing three hits and posting six strikeouts. The bullpen came in and allowed one hit the rest of the way, going back to the postseason Dodgers pitching they all came and loved.

It Came To Life

The long ball carried the boys in blue to the NLCS, and it comes to life again. Kike Hernandez comes up cold blooded once again, and Ohtani towered a fly ball into right field. It got back to their ways, and they have done it again.

What Went Wrong for the Dodgers

Walks

Although the pitching was great, four walks can hurt them in other games. It is hard to discredit the Dodgers, but their walks can always be lowered after four on Wednesday.

What Went Right for the Mets

Fielding Spectacularity

Francisco Lindor and Tyrone Taylor made two spectacular plays on the diamond, with two web gems. Lindor, who wasn’t nominated for a gold glove, flashed the leather with a spinning backhand pick and throw to first to get Mookie Betts. Taylor made savvy catch in centerfield on the run, sliding down to rob Tommy Edman of multiple bases.

What Went Wrong for the Mets

Lindor and Polar Bear Go Arctic Cold

The playoffs for the Mets all starts with amazing hitting, and two guys who have got it done are Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso. In the batters box in Game Three, they combined 0-for-8, with four strikeouts. The main culprits of the success played on their downfall tonight.

Got Nothing Going

It seemed nothing was going right for the Mets, when they only got four hits. They went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position, and missed on a huge bases loaded chance in the second inning.

Looking Ahead

Game Four will happen on Friday, where the Mets and Dodgers have not named their official starting pitchers. The Dodgers look to create a 3-1 series lead and look towards their first World Series appearance since 2020, while the Mets look to tie the series up at two a piece.
