Peña, Walker Lift Astros Over Brewers

Jeremy Peña and Christian Walker powered the Astros offense as AJ Blubaugh provided scoreless relief against the Brewers.

The Houston Astros defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 9–2, on Saturday afternoon at Daikin Park behind a strong offensive performance from Jeremy Peña and Christian Walker.

Peña delivered a two-run home run and scored twice, while Walker added a three-run homer as the Astros pulled away after a close game through the first four innings.

Astros – Brewers Game Summary

The Brewers struck first during the opening inning. Christian Yelich singled and later scored when William Contreras lined an RBI double into left field for a 1–0 lead.

The Astros answered in the second inning. Cam Smith opened the frame with a single before Jake Meyers tied the game with an RBI single. Two batters later, Peña launched a two-run home run to left field, giving the Astros a 3–1 advantage.

Peter Lambert settled in after the first inning. The right-hander retired the Brewers in order during the third and worked four scoreless innings after allowing the early run.

The Brewers trimmed the deficit in the fifth inning when Jackson Chourio delivered an RBI single that scored Garrett Mitchell. The Brewers loaded the bases with two outs, but Lambert escaped further damage when William Contreras grounded out.

The Astros responded immediately in the bottom half.

Peña singled and stole second before Taylor Trammell lined an RBI single into right field. After Christian Walker was hit by a pitch, Isaac Paredes ripped a two-run double into left field, extending the lead to 6–2.

AJ Blubaugh replaced Lambert in the sixth inning and provided three scoreless innings of relief. The right-hander allowed one hit and struck out four batters.

The Astros added the final blow in the eighth inning. Peña singled and Yordan Alvarez walked before Walker launched a three-run home run to right field. The blast pushed the lead to seven runs and removed any remaining drama.

Logan VanWey closed the game in the ninth inning with three consecutive outs to secure the victory.

Peña finished 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. The shortstop contributed offensively throughout the game and ignited multiple scoring rallies.

Fifth-Inning Response

The Brewers cut the lead to one run in the top of the fifth inning. The Astros answered with three runs in the bottom half, preventing the Brewers from gaining momentum.

Pitching Limited Opportunities

Lambert allowed two runs and stranded a bases-loaded threat in the fifth inning. Blubaugh followed with three scoreless innings before VanWey completed the win.

Early Missed Opportunity

The Astros stranded runners at first and third during the opening inning after putting two runners aboard against Brandon Sproat.

Strikeouts in Run-Scoring Situations

The Astros struck out nine times and left several opportunities on the bases before breaking the game open late.

The offense managed one hit between the sixth and seventh innings before Walker’s eighth-inning homer created separation.

Houston is expected to start right-hander Tatsuya Imai, who enters with a 2-2 record and a 6.17 ERA. Milwaukee is projected to counter with right-hander Jacob Misiorowski, who carries a 5-2 record, a 1.83 ERA, and 100 strikeouts.
