In six outings across the 2026 playoffs, right-hander Trevor Megill has shown poise in crucial moments. The Milwaukee Brewers closer has recorded five saves with seven strikeouts on a 1.35 ERA in 6 2/3 innings. He sealed three of the Brewers wins over the San Diego Padres in the NLDS and two against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. His performances helped the Brewers reach their first World Series since 1983 as they hold a commanding 3–0 lead over the Tampa Bay Rays heading into game four at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
“Everybody is going to be tired around this time,” Megill told the press following Game One of the World Series. “That’s the mental challenge of October: who can prepare the best and come through in the moments that matter most.”
Showing Poise
In his fourth season with the Brewers, Megill succeeded in keeping his ERA lower than it has been in the past at 2.63. He also tallied 30 saves with 69 strikeouts on a career-best 1.8 WAR.
Those numbers translated into multiple successful outings for Trevor Megill in the postseason. While facing the Padres in the NLDS, he struck out four batters while allowing only a hit in three outings. He performed up to that level against the reigning champion Dodgers in the NLCS, totaling two strikeouts and two walks.
“It doesn’t matter how we get the outs,” Megill told the press. “Get the outs. I’m really proud of the guys in front of me, and we’re looking for a lot more from them.”
“Yeah. It’s about picking up your guys and performing,” he added. “That’s the bottom line. What matters is performing.”
Sealing Wins
Megill made his first World Series appearance which came in the ninth inning of Game One against the Rays on Friday at American Family Field. His outing did not get off to an ideal start as he gave up singles to Jonathan Aranda and Chandler Simpson. With two runners on, he walked Junior Caminero to load the bases for the Rays. A Liam Hicks groundout scored Jorge Mateo, who was pinch running for Aranda. With the Brewers lead fading, Trevor Megill struck out Jonny DeLuca to seal the win.

“We figured it out halfway through,” Megill told Sport Relay. “You take a couple deep breaths, look at the card, remind yourself whom you’ve got and attack the zone again. I made good pitches there at the end.”
