No team has ever won nine consecutive games in a single postseason, but that could all change on Tuesday night. After their 10–1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday, the Milwaukee Brewers joined the 2004 Boston Red Sox, 2005 Chicago White Sox, 2014 Kansas City Royals, and 2019 Washington Nationals as the only teams to win eight straight contests in a single postseason. Thus, if the Brewers win on Tuesday, they’ll not only claim their first-ever World Series title, but rewrite history in the process.

Despite not winning eight straight games, the Cincinnati Reds rightfully deserve a spot on this list. They swept the entire postseason, but since the LCS was best-of-five until 1985, the Reds couldn’t win more than seven consecutive games.

Their run started against the Philadelphia Phillies, with Ken Griffey sending the team to the World Series on a walk-off infield single. In the Fall Classic, the Reds dismantled the New York Yankees in four games, with Hall of Famer Johnny Bench winning World Series MVP Honors.

After Game Three of the ALCS, the Red Sox weren’t worried about winning eight straight games. Down 3–0 in the series to the Yankees, the team needed one victory to stay alive. However, not only did the Red Sox win Game Four, but they stormed back to complete the first 3–0 series comeback in postseason history.

In the World Series, the Red Sox rode their momentum to a 4–0 sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals. The Fall Classic triumph was the team’s first in 86 years, breaking the “Curse of the Bambino” and sparking the Red Sox’ reign as the most successful team of the 21st century.

One year after the Red Sox set a postseason record for consecutive games won, the White Sox joined them. After dropping Game One of the ALCS against the Los Angeles Angels, the team ripped off four straight wins to reach its first World Series in 46 years.

The hot play didn’t stop in the Fall Classic, as the White Sox swept the Houston Astros in four games. It was a battle, as each contest was decided by two runs or less. However, the White Sox did enough to win their first title in 88 seasons.

Despite falling short in the World Series, the Royals had a run for the ages in 2014. After a walk-off victory against the Athletics in the American League Wild Card, the Royals swept the Angels and Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS and ALCS, respectively.

Their magical run ended in Game One of the World Series. The San Francisco Giants used seven dominant innings from ace Madison Bumgarner to win 7–1. They fought back to win Games Two and Three, and Six, but fell in one of the greatest Game Sevens in baseball history.

After a thrilling comeback victory against the Brewers in the National League Wild Card Game, the Nationals found themselves on the brink of elimination in the NLDS. With the Los Angeles Dodgers holding a 2–1 lead, the Nationals had to win two consecutive games to advance.

Instead, they won eight straight. They swept the Cardinals in the NLCS before taking the first two games of the World Series over the Astros. The Nationals did lose the next three contests. However, they stole Games Six and Seven on the road to secure the team’s first-ever title.
